Marcy Zwelling-Aamot, M.D. is a respected member of the California medical community and a prominent voice in the crusade to improve the broken healthcare system. Dr. Marcy Zwelling is part of a growing trend, physicians who work on a cash only basis. Her Los Alamitos concierge practice is off the insurance grid in an effort to combat regulators and government involvement.
I am thrilled to announce that the “BFF of doctors,” and the person behind the Congressional landslide of 2010, Congressman Pete Sessions, will be coming to Southern California on October 16 and 17.
Congressman Sessions is the hardest working member of Congress I know. As Chair of the Rules Committee, he is the man who has been most able to bring the GOP and the Democrats together on some really important issues. Last November, Pete hosted 65 doctors under the Capitol dome and heard us tell him that our priority was to STOP ICD 10. Private physicians from all over the country knew that we did not have the dollars and time to invest in a short term coding nightmare. Congressman Sessions saw to it that ICD 10 was delayed for an entire year and he is working with us to articulate legitimate SGR reform that includes opportunities to privately contract. We are also working to find a way to allow for dual tracks (ICD 9 and 10) for ICD coding so that those who invested in ICD 10 find a reasonable ROI and those who cannot afford that investment are not forced to close their doors.
What does this mean for us and for our patients? In a word, Congressman Sessions believes in CHOICE. He understands that liberty is really about our opportunity to make informed decisions about our health and our lives. And he is willing to work his fingers to the bone to see that his constituents and the typical American citizen is given every consideration as legislation comes across his desk. He listens and then he acts.

It’s time we show the Congressman that it does matter and that we so appreciate having him work on our behalf !
