JUNE 12, 2013 — CNN reports that according to the American Academy of Family Physicians, about 4 percent of doctors surveyed have adopted similar models. They don’t take insurance, so, at AtlasMD, patients pay a flat monthly fee and small charges for labs and prescriptions.
Nunamaker says that by avoiding the health insurance system, AtlasMD cuts down on overhead, which allows him to keep his patient numbers low and lets him spend more time with each patient.
