Businesses and nonprofit groups in Collier County are joining the Blue Zones Project by the handfuls to get their rank and file healthier.
Among the latest getting recognized for promoting healthier options in daily activities are the United Way, Coldwell Banker, Unity of Naples and Gulfshore Concierge Medicine.
The Blue Zones Project locally is a well-being initiative that encourages changes in the community for healthier options so they can catch on and become the preferred choice.
So far, 25 entities are taking part in the local initiative.
Part of the appeal of the local project for the United Way is how the Blue Zones promotes volunteerism, said Steve Sanderson, president and chief executive officer of the United Way.
