AUGUST 2016 – A growing Albany, New York telemedicine company has connected with the region’s health information exchange.
Upstate Concierge Medicine can now share patient data and notes with every health care provider with access to Hixny. The telemedicine company has more than 100 business clients offering its remote doctors’ visits to workers.
“You’ll not only see the diagnosis but you’ll also see … how we deliver the care,” said Upstate Concierge Medicine CEO Keith Algozzine. “We’re fully transparent to the community and any doctor anywhere in the state. If you’re a patient of ours, they can pull up our notes.”
Hixny is a nonprofit that allows health care providers to share and retrieve medical records of patients. It allows doctors and providers in different settings to easily access the medical history of a patient and make more informed decisions about their care.
Upstate Concierge Medicine has focused on providing a more locally integrated level of telemedicine than national providers. It tripled its customer base this year.
Employers have chosen to offer the service as an added benefit to workers because it can be a cheaper option for health care and can cut down time spent out of the office.
