From the Jungle to Jamaica
QuikClinik Founders, Jermaine and Alana McFarlane have lots of stories to tell. They also have a big vision for healthcare. In 2015, they returned to Jamaica after a couple several-month stints in South America. Most of that time, they spent in the jungles of Guyana and Suriname, on the banks of the Corentyne River. While there, with very few resources, and backgrounds in medicine and emergency services, they were able to make a lasting impact in the Amerindian villages where they lived. The experience solidified their commitment to their desire to provoke positive change in their local health systems.

More About Us
QuikClinik Telehealth Services (QuikClinik) is a telehealth provider of online live, interactive video medical consultations. We believe that everyone should have ready access to high quality healthcare, and by utilizing the latest technology and best practices, we are making this a reality. Rural and deep rural places in Jamaica are especially lacking access to care. Thus, these will be our primary focus areas.
Jermaine McFarlane: Co-Founder, Chief Servant & Chief Medical Servant
Jermaine’s core personality trait is problem solving, which fuels his love for medicine, IT, and people. He graduated from UWI medical school in 2009 and has had the privilege of working in multiple specialties in various settings from a large referral hospital in Kingston, Jamaica to a remote village in Guyana’s rainforest. QuikClinik was born out of his desire to combine medicine and IT to modernize medicine in Jamaica and bring care to those who need it most.
Alana Wellington-McFarlane: Co-Founder and Team Liaison
Alana has a background in the visual and performing arts. She is also a novelist and a poet. Over the years she has had the joy of discovering bridges between the arts and sciences. Her exposure to providing care in the medical field began with hospital volunteer hours as a teenager in the States and advanced to ambulance work as an emergency medical technician while attending Muhlenberg College. She has genuine interest in people and an inclination to advocacy work. A robust health system is possible in Jamaica and she believes QuikClinik is a part of the solution.
