Here’s another sign from the medical front that the resurgence of downtown Buffalo is real: A doctor looking to grow his concierge practice is moving his office from near Spaulding Lake in Clarence to the new Delaware North headquarters.
Dr. Leonard Kaplan will close his practice, Osteopathic Wellness Medicine of Western New York, Thanksgiving week and reopen Dec. 1 at 235 S. Elmwood Ave., Suite 120, on what he called the “quieter side” of the headquarters that continues to take shape between Elmwood and Delaware avenues at Chippewa Street.
“I’m hoping to develop some synergy with the medical corridor,” said Kaplan, an osteopath who began his medical career with the U.S. Army and worked at Buffalo Spine and Sports Medicine before he set out on his own last year. “We also think here in Clarence, it’s kind of saturated but in the business area downtown it’s kind of lacking, that access to wellness, so I’m strategically placing myself close to a lot of business offices.”
Kaplan specializes in conservative, non-pharmaceutical methods to help control pain and chronic conditions. His new 2,300-square-foot office will feature a medical side that includes three clinical suites and a wellness side with room for cooking and yoga classes.
“It’s aesthetically designed to create a nurturing environment,” he said. “It’ll look more like a spa than a medical office.”
