San Jose, CA (March 30, 2015) – A private practitioner for almost two decades, on April 15, Sian Lindsay, MD is opening the doors to her concierge medical practice, the first of its kind in San Jose, California, providing full internal medicine coverage for her patients. Proactive wellness and personalized care will be emphasized within each of Dr. Lindsay’s specialties, including women’s health, nutritionolescent medicine and diabetic management.
As a physician for more than a decade, I have had the privilege to practice the art of healing and to develop meaningful and supportive relationships with my patients. The opportunity to ease pain and serve as a guide on the road to wellness has brought me great personal and professional satisfaction.

Today, the medical landscape is changing in ways that make it impossible for me, in typical practice settings, to provide the high quality of care that my patients deserve. Compassion cannot be rushed, empathy cannot be hurried, and a strong physician-patient relationship can only be built with time and trust. All physicians are also patients, and all of us want to be treated with respect by a caring professional who is dedicated to our individual healing process. This is why I decided to start my own practice, and it’s exactly what I will be able to offer in my new personalized medicine practice. This is the kind of care that I went into medicine to provide. As a Silicon Valley native, I know our local communities and am eager to provide high quality medicine to our residents. Medicine practiced ‘at the speed of humans’ can provide a healing respite in our fast-paced, innovative community .
Here, in my new practice, there will be more time for what matters most: time to address complex conditions and individual concerns with extended office visits, a focus on prevention and creating individualized wellness plans, and a schedule that allows me to listen to all of your questions and talk through solutions. I will also be available by phone 24/7, serving as your medical advocate whenever and wherever needed, whether it’s during regular office hours or in the middle of the night.
I could not be more excited about this opportunity to deliver personalized care, without compromise. This is the kind of medicine I have dreamed of practicing since entering medical school at USC.
“Personalized medicine provides the best possible solution to navigating today’s complex healthcare landscape,” says Dr. Sandhoo. “The gift of more time to spend with patients is of incalculable value, enabling me to comprehensively address multiple, complex conditions and focus on prevention and wellness. It also allows me to be my patients’ advocate, whenever and wherever needed…at the office or hospital, during regular hours, or on my cell phone in the middle of the night.”
She continues: “The rushed, time-constrained environment typical of traditional practices does not work with the kind of thorough, compassionate and empathetic medicine I want to practice, and have always practiced.”
Patients have been quick to embrace the concept: “Direct access to physician, day and night, just the thought that there is someone knowledgeable to answer the patient’s questions is a huge comfort,” wrote one patient. “I will eat beans every day if it means staying with Dr. Sandhoo!” says another long-time patient.
In addition, Dr. Sandhoo will serve as a dedicated advocate for her patients who require hospital care, from emergency room through discharge. “It is immensely reassuring to know that the doctor who knows me best will be with me throughout any hospital stays that may be needed,” comments a patient.
“Many of my patients are seniors, whom I have treated for years, and it is very important for them to feel confident that my caring doesn’t stop if and when they need hospital care,” says Dr. Sandhoo. “In fact, I will serve as the physician who admits them, and ensure there is complete continuity of care from hospital through their return home.”
Proactive wellness will be a primary focus of Dr. Sandhoo’s practice, including specialized programs for exercise, nutrition, heart health and diabetes management. “There are many ways patients can prevent the progression of disease and enjoy healthier lives,” says Dr. Sandhoo. “We encourage our patients to work with us and become active participants in their healthcare. My new practice will allow the time needed to accomplish just that.”
Physicians across the country are establishing concierge practices in order to return the physician-patient relationship to the forefront of their medical care, according to Specialdocs Consultants, Inc., a national health care consulting firm that is assisting Dr. Sandhoo with transition her practice to the personalized care model. Reducing the number of patients in their practice allows physicians to offer longer appointments, on the same or next day. Patients are also ensured personal and timely contact after hours and on weekends with direct access to their physician’s personal cell phone and email address. “More time to spend with patients is the number one reason our doctors transition to concierge medicine,” says Roberta Greenspan, President, Specialdocs.
