MedWand Allows Patients to be Examined Anywhere Online, Turns Computers into Clinics

Las Vegas, NV – April 15, 2015 – Nevada-based tech startup MedWand Solutions, Inc. will be launching its highly-anticipated MedWand telemedicine examination device on crowdfunding site Indiegogo.com on April 20, 2015.
The concept is simple – to allow secure, real-time, medical examinations with patients located remotely using a compact, affordable device. Combined with any computer or tablet, the MedWand creates an online clinic with examination capability anywhere.
The MedWand was conceived and invented by Dr. Samir Qamar, founder and CEO of MedLion Direct Primary Care, currently contracted with independent DPC providers in 25 states. “As a physician, I find it challenging to treat a patient without the ability to do a basic exam or get vitals,” says Qamar, also MedWand’s President. “Up to now, telemedicine technology has been overly focused on video consultations. Adding an examination component to a telemedicine visit dramatically improves the quality and safety of care delivered. MedWand advances the entire telemedicine industry.”
The portable MedWand, located on the patient’s end, allows providers to perform or monitor the following functions from a remote location:
- EKG
- Listen to heart, lungs, and abdomen
- Real-time visualization of inner ear, eyes, nose, throat, skin
- Heart rate
- Temperature
- Blood oxygen saturation
- Blood pressure and blood sugar via Bluetooth

“When Dr. Qamar came to me with his vision, I immediately knew we had changed healthcare,” says Robert Rose. “With MedWand, a medical provider can virtually ‘enter’ a home, an office, a remote village, a ship, or even a plane-in-flight to perform a basic medical exam, even thousands of miles away. The possibilities are endless. We’re even working on a version for pets, called VetWand!”

MedWand’s crowdfunding campaign will allow pre-orders for prototypes and limited editions, including a ruggedized version that can be used with satellite links in extremely remote locations. The company has already secured orders from ordinary consumers, medical practices, and telemedicine companies.
